Research activities

PhD thesis – “Legal regulation of conducting of the public inventories of natural resources” (scientific supervisor dr. hab., prof. Nadiia Kobetska). The thesis was defended in 2009 in the specialized council of the National Agricultural University of Ukraine (Kyiv).

The topic of the doctoral dissertation is “Environmental and legal conflicts and their settlement in Ukraine”, approved by the decision of the Academic Council of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (minutes No 1 of 31 August 2017), scientific supervisor dr. hab., prof. Nadiia Kobetska

Author of 130 scientific and educational-methodological publications, including co-authority in the  scientific-practical commentary to the Water Code of Ukraine (2010) and scientific and practical commentary to the Forest Code of Ukraine (electronic version for the unified information platform LIGA. LAW) (2017); co-author and one of the editors of the collective monograph 

«Realization of Sustainable Development Principle in Environmental Legal Relations: Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice in Ukraine» (еditors N. Kobetska, Z. Yaremak, L. Danyliuk. Ivano-Frankivsk: Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, 2022); 5 publications in the edition indexed in the Scopus database.

Every year, students are trained to participate in scientific conferences, competitions of scientific papers, and students publish abstracts and scientific articles.

In 2018, the 3rd year student V. Babak won the 3rd place in the All-Ukrainian competition for student scientific papers (Zaporizhzhia). Student L. Strutynska was awarded a II degree diploma in the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in the specialization “Land Law; Agrarian Law; Environmental Law; Natural Resources Law’ (2021).

Head of research work of the department ‘Improvement of legal regulation of land, agrarian and environmental relations in the context of adaptation to EU legislation’ (state registration number 0110U003028).

One of the representatives of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University in the International Academy of Environmental Law of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Member of the working group of the Verkhovna Rada Committee of Ukraine on environmental policy and nature management on improving the system of environmental education in Ukraine.

After the (1993) hired to Assistant Professor of the Department of the Theory and History of Law of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

From 1993 to 2000 had been working as an assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor of the department named above.

From 2000 to 2006 – Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

In August 2006 was invited to the post of the Head of the new opened Department of Economic and Environmental Law of Prikarpatsky Law Institute of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

In September 2008 returned to work at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and has been elected to the Head the Department of Labour, Environmental and Agricultural law of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

From June 2012 to October 2014 – has been working on a position of vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Scientific activity

The title of dissertation for PhD in environmental law is «Ecological rights of citizens of Ukraine». The thesis was publicly defended in 1998 in a specialized Board of the Institute of State and Law of National Academy of Science after V. M. Koretsky in Ukraine (Kyiv) under the scientific supervision of Doctor of Law, Professor S. M. Kravchenko.

Thesis for the degree of Doctor of Law: «Licensing and Contractual Regulation of the Use of Natural Resources in Ukraine» (scientific supervisor – Doctor of law, Professor, Academician of National Academy of Science of Ukraine N. R. Malysheva). The thesis was publicly defended in 1n December 2016 in a specialized Board of the Institute of State and Law of National Academy of Science after V. M. Koretsky in Ukraine (Kyiv).

Author of more than 180 scientific and methodological publications, including the textbook, approved and recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine «Environmental Law of Ukraine» (2007, 2008 (2nd edition)), individual monograph, co-author of the textbook approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine «Corporate Law of Ukraine» (2010), co-author and editor of scientific-practical commentary to the Water Code of Ukraine, co-author of 9 collective monographs.

Born on 5 of July, 1946 in Uhryniv village Tysmenytsya district Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 1962 entered to a technical college № 21 (Ivano-Frankivsk), after which he was aimed to work by assistant engineer of steam engine at the Ivano-Frankivsk Steam Engine Repairing Plant. From 08.05.1968 – mechanic at the Ivano-Frankivsk Instrument-Making Plant.

From 03.01.1983 – Legal Counsel, and from 01.07.1992 – Head of the Legal Department of the same Plant. From 02.07.1992 – Deputy of Dean of the History Faculty of Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute. From 09.01.1994 to 11.05.1997 – Dean of the Law Faculty of VasylStefanykPrecarpathian National University. Since September 2008 was appointed Deputy Director of the Law Institute (part-time department).

In August 2015 was hired as the assistant of the Department of Labour, Environmental and Agricultural Law (part-time).

Scientific activity

The topic of the dissertation for PhD degree in environmental law is “Legal regime of natural resources for hunting in Ukraine” (scientific supervision – Doctor of Law, Professor Nadiia Kobetska). The dissertation was defended in March 2017 at the meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council K 26.004.16 at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).

Author of more than 80 scientific and educational-methodological publications, including the individual monograph “Legal regime of natural resources for hunting in Ukraine” (2017), co-author of 4 publications in the edition indexed in the Scopus database, co-author of the collective English-language monograph “Realization of Sustainable Development Principle in Environmental Legal Relations: Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice in Ukraine” (2022).

November 2022 – October 2024 – fellow of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for Young Scientists.

January 2023 – scholarship holder of the program Universities for Ukraine (USA). The research project on environmental information provision received support from Yale School of the Environment (Yale University).

May 2024 – laureate of the All-Ukrainian competition “Young Scientist of the Year – 2023” in the “Grant Activity” nomination.

– June, 2022, within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the Educational and Scientific Law Institute of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and the Andrzej Frych Modrzewski Krakow University, provided teaching of the academic discipline “Legal Protection of the Environment in Ukraine and the EU” at the Andrzej Frych Modrzewski Krakow Academy (Krakow, Republic of Poland) (10 academic hours);

– May 8 to 12, 2023, took part in the international academic mobility program at the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Suceava, Romania) as part of the Erasmus+KA1 project (type of mobility – teaching, 8 academic hours).
